What we had for Breakfast?

Breakfast buffet at RBG, Bar & Grill has good options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. We are vegetarian, so we would review vegetarian items only.

Bread Section

Breads served at this place are so perfect! Crispy on the outside and fluffy from inside. Multigrain bread, garlic knots, dinner rolls, garlic loaf and olive rolls were displayed in the bread section. These can be toasted just before serving and topped with choice of butter. Garlic and parsley butter is what we opted for as a topping on our olive rolls which were accompanied by cappuccino coffee.

Breakfast Cereals

More than 6 varities of breakfast cereals are served and we have the option for hot/cold milk. Toppings like honey, dry fruits, seeds and berries are also available which can be added as per preference. Mein Kun
Mein Kun, The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel

Mein kun, The pan asian dining restaurant

The ultimate place to visit for pan asian food lovers. Authentic oriental cuisine served here is made with the premium quality ingredients which are sourced from the east asian countries.

Opening time is only from 7:00 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Reservations can be made via local dining apps or through direct email to hotel.

Our experience

We tried this place ago few months ago, on our staycation at The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel.

We were craving for some light snacks for dinner as the lunch buffet at Cafe Knosh kept us full till late evening. As this place only open up for dinner, it was the perfect time explore some authentic oriental snacks. Mein Kun is right adjacent to the Cafe Knosh.

Ambience

As soon as you enter, you can see the statue of Lord Buddha which is absolutely adorable and would attract your attention for a while. People loved getting photographed beside this statue. This place has 3 sections, first is the waiting area where the statue of Lord Buddha is placed, second is the common dining area and third is for private gathering which can be booked for parties. Each section is divided by the heavy wooden partitions with detailed carvings. Interiors of this place are worth appreciation. Yellow lights , heavy chandeliers and walls studded with beautiful artefacts makes this place look like a dining hall of a royal palace.

food

Mock meat spring rolls, ( INR. 750)

For appetizer we ordered the mock meat spring rolls. Spring rolls are always the first choice for me when ordering appetizers from the pan asian section. They are crunchy, juicy and delicious! They had the mock meat spring rolls in the menu which is a good choice if you are vegetarian like me. Mock meat is made with soyabean. It’s texture is almost like meat but it is 100% plant based. Small chunks of mock meat seasoned with oriental spices are tossed with juliennes of garden fresh vegetables and rolled in wonton wrappers. Wonton rolls are then deep fried until golden and served with sweet chilli sauce.

Wok Tossed Noodles ( INR. 650)

For main course we ordered “Wok Tossed Noodles” from their noodles section. Thin stringy and bouncy noodles tossed in a wok , Hakka style with a lot of fresh vegetables is a true delight. They accompanied with variety of sauces which you can add to your noodles as per your liking. I like spicy food so I added generous amount of red chilli sauce, if you like it on the tangier side then pickled ginger would be your best choice.

We were completely full by the time we finished both the dishes, so we decided to skip the dessert.

Holiday Inn, Buffet dinner

Holiday Inn , is a 5 star property located in Delhi,Mayur Vihar. It has the facility of luxurious suites, swimming pool, spa-salon, restaurants and all the other basic amenities which a 5 star property should have.

I love having gourmet dining experiences and recently I visited Cafe on 3, the casual dining restaurant by Holiday Inn.

Melon skewers for appetizer

Tiny spheres of ripe water melon, skewered with fresh mozzarella cheese are dipped in honey , lemon and olive oil dressing which adds flavours to this delicate dish in right amount.

Soul of this recipe is it’s simplicity. All you want to taste is the sweetness of melon and freshness of cheese when you take a bite. Dressing just helps to combine the flavours and enhance the aroma.

As soon as you take a bite into it , you can feel the water melon juices mixing with stringy mozerella which almost feels like nature’s candy.

Vegan Sushi

Sushi is a very popular east asian delicacy which is traditionally made with seafood. Most of the people believe that sushi can only taste good if it is made the traditional way. Vegan Sushi served here totally changed my perception. It was vegan and it was delicious!

Vegan version of Sushi is made with choice of vegetables wrapped in Japanese/sushi rice rolls and topped with nori sheets. Vegetables adds the flavour and color, sushi rice adds the body and texture and nori sheets adds the crunch. It is best served with soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger. These have sweet and sour flavours with a pungent after taste. Some vegan sushi varieties which are very popular are:

  • Nasu Nigiri
  • Avocado Nigiri
  • Kappa Maki
  • Shinko Maki/ Takuan Maki
  • Kampyo Maki
  • Ume, Cucumber Shiso Makizushi

I prefer Kappa Maki and Avocado Nigri. I also had some thepla and mirch achar which is a gujarati dish (you can see that in my plate) because I could not stop myself from trying all the delicious food which was right in front of me. I know thepla with Sushi is a weird combo, but trust me you need to try it all when you are a food lover. (wink)

I was so full after having this, that I decided to head over desserts section.

Pastries and tarts

I have a special desire to try all the western style desserts. Dessert section was filled with variety of pastries, pies and tarts. All in different vibrant colors were super welcoming to eyes. Some were topped with red cherries, some with green kiwi, and others with chocolate, caramel and banana. This beautiful site would make any one drool over these desserts.

The first dessert I had was banana caramel cake slice. Soft vanilla cake slices were topped with caramel sauce and thin banana slices. Cake was as soft as an airy sponge is. Same was with the mango pastry. Super soft vanilla cake loaded with whipped cream and fresh mango slices can take anyone to heaven at the very first bite.

Mini Rajbhog is something from the Indian desserts section but I have a special place in my heart for it. This is my mother’s favourite dessert and I am having this since my childhood days.

My experience at this place was very good. Food was delicious and customer service is top notch. This is a 24 hours open restaurant and you may visit any time but I would recommend going at night because vibe is quite special at that time. Sitting beside the pool option is available as well, and if the weather is good you should definitely go for it. Terrace pool is right next to this restaurant and you get a view of it while enjoy delicious meal.
